FAQ

Common questions regarding our policies and standards...

Are you open Christmas Day?

The centre is open for care 24/7, every day of the year excluding Christmas. The centre will close on Christmas Day at 12:00am, and reopen at 12:00am Boxing Day.

Can I leave my child with you for a weekend?

Our program provides care on a 24/7 basis for parents who work or attend school during non-traditional hours. The amount of care provided is set within a standard time-frame of acceptable hours.

Can I drop in for a tour?

As much as we’d like you to swing by, we require you contact the centre and set up an appointment for a tour. You can do so by clicking here.

What requirements will we need to meet for enrolment?

Little Start Child Care is open to all children, regardless of race, sex, sexual orientation, creed, religion, special need or ethnicity. Enrolment is based on the availability of spaces within the centre or desired program. Spaces are filled on availability corresponding to such vacancies. A waiting list is maintained from which vacancies are also filled. Contact us today if you are interested in enrolling your child at Little Start.

What circumstances would cause a termination of service?

The centre may terminate child care services for failure to pay fees, consistent late pick ups (without a phone call), failure to follow Little Start’s policies, or inappropriate/threatening/abusive behavior that is harmful to the child, other children or staff.

Do you offer subsidized child care?

Subsidized childcare eligibility is determined by a municipality. For more information, get in touch with the City of Barrie at www.barrie.ca.

What is your policy on a sick child being in your care?

We can typically care of something as simple as a sniffle, but we will keep an eye on the child for further symptoms. If we are in a position where your child’s illness will infect other children (ie- fever, diarrhea, vomiting, chicken pox, etc), we will contact the parent to come pick up the child.

What security measures does your centre employ?

In addition to making sure a child only leaves with their designated parent(s) or guardian(s), we will question anyone that comes into our building before they are anywhere near the children. If their answers or behaviour is suspicious, we will lock the doors and call the police.

What are your staff’s qualifications?

We hire both ECE and non-ECE staff. However we also provide opportunities for all staff to acquire their ECE while working with us, including financial assistance.
